{"title":"'Bernard Ollis' | Reception","description":"\u003cp\u003eIn this exhibition Bernard Ollis captures the feeling and emotion of France and Paris, his most favourite city where he regularly travels to spending weeks at a time living and painting.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBernard Ollis artworks are heavily saturated with colour and portray playful interpretations of everyday scenarios as he takes a view from a window or an urban park scene and turns them into fantastical scenes where buildings and trees converse and argue, dance and twirl.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e‘I have travelled to Paris from my home in Australia many times and like so many people before, I feel a kindred spirit with this incredible and pervasive place. This is at odds with reality, because in truth I have no French ancestry, do not act like a Frenchman and speak little of the language. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eYet there is something indefinable that makes me feel such affinity with its beauty and humanity. Street Cafes, back alleys, crowds of tourists, balcony views, bridges, gardens and everything in between are all artistic fair game’.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBorn in England, Bernard Ollis graduated from the Cardiff College of Art and Design, Wales and received his Master of Art (Painting) from the Royal College of Art, London.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBernard Ollis is the former Director of the National Art School, Sydney and has had a constant stream of successful solo exhibitions.
