Exhibition: Works on Paper

Exhibition: Works on Paper

SHOWING: 29 April - 10 May 2025.

Mitchell Fine Art in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley proudly presents ‘Works on Paper,’ a captivating group exhibition showcasing Aboriginal and Contemporary artworks, all unified by paper as their primary medium, showing from 29th April 2025.

'Works on Paper' brings together an exceptional group of artists who push the boundaries of traditional paper-based art, incorporating mixed media, texture, and innovative techniques to transform the humble paper sheet into a powerful medium for storytelling, abstraction, and expression.

Artists have long recognized paper as a versatile and dynamic medium in their creative practice, using it not only as a surface for drawing and painting but also as a material to shape, manipulate, and transform. Its inherent qualities—texture, weight, and flexibility—offer endless possibilities.

The tactile nature of working with paper allows artists to create intimate, sensory experiences for the viewer, while also serving as a canvas for the expression of more complex, conceptual ideas.

From intricate drawings, photography, traditional Arnhem Land Aboriginal artworks to bold mixed-media artworks, this exhibition demonstrates the limitless possibilities of paper and its role in modern artistic practice.

Thought-provoking works delve into the materiality of paper, the fragility and strength it represents, and its ability to evoke emotion and narrative.
