2025 Brisbane Portrait Prize Finalists - Carlos Barrios, Jorge Mariño Brito & Peter Hudson

Congratulations to Carlos Barrios, Jorge Mariño Brito & Peter Hudson on their selection as finalists in the 2025 Brisbane Portrait Prize.

Carlos Barrios was born in El Salvador Central America and now lives and works in Queensland. Carlos's practice focuses on familiar themes of human connection and the blurred lines between reality and fantasy. These concepts are portrayed by the figures and animals that inhabit his artworks.

Jorge Mariño Brito was born in Cuba and lives and works in Brisbane. His artistic practice encompasses painting, papermaking and printmaking. Mariño Brito's artwork combines his sensitive depiction of human relationships with a love for painterly materials, bringing intimate moments captured in photographs back to life.

Peter Hudson is a landscape and portrait painter and musician who draws largely on contemporary Australian history for inspiration in his art making. He is represented in the collections of the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, National Portrait Gallery and Parliament House in Brisbane.
