Congratulations to Jake Moss on his selection as a finalist in the 2024 Alice Prize in Alice Springs.
The Alice Prize is a biennial acquisitive national contemporary art prize, welcoming entries from around Australia, in any medium or theme.
Jake Moss is a multidisciplinary artist working across visual art, film, theatre and literature and grew up in housing commission in Woodridge in Queensland.
Drawing inspiration from his childhood in a low socioeconomic and multicultural area and being frequently exposed to a kaleidoscope of characters his works frequently focus on home, belonging, nostalgia, identity and youth.
His paintings are vibrant and chaotic but never without purpose, often seeking to connect with the viewer personally while drawing direct influence from the street art he was exposed to during his childhood in Woodridge, QLD.
The exhibition of finalists will be open to the public at the Araluen Arts Centre from 22 March to 12 May 2024.
