Margaret McIntosh - 2024 Paddington Art Prize Finalist

Congratulations to Margaret McIntosh on her selection as a finalist in the 2024 Paddington Art Prize Finalist in Sydney.

The Paddington Art Prize is a National acquisitive prize, awarded annually for a painting inspired by the Australian landscape. The prize encourages the interpretation of the landscape as a significant contemporary genre.

Margaret McIntosh is a Melbourne based artist whose work explores the narrative of the everyday. Throughout her work, Margaret has investigated the spaces we occupy and symbolism in domesticity along with the fragility of the human condition.

Margaret McIntosh likes being inside other people’s houses and having a look at their things. The allure of being privy to displays of prized belongings and initiate glimpses into the settings of their daily lives.

'When moving through the suburbs there is a tension in the way the familiarity and repetition of banality both repels and draws us in', says McIntosh.
