Ngununggula Exhibition - Clarice Beckett & Mirra Whale

Ngununggula Exhibition - Clarice Beckett & Mirra Whale

22 November 2025 - 25 January 2026

Mitchell Fine Art is proud to announce Mirra Whale's exhibition alongside Clarice Beckett's touring exhibition at Ngununggula Gallery in Bowral, NSW.

Scenes & Silence showcases artworks by Mirra Whale, generously loaned from private collections as well as recently completed paintings.

Mirra Whale is a Sydney based artist whose artworks explore the formal and conceptual limits of the genre of still life, utlising everyday household objects and presenting them from another angle.

Whale is a five-time finalist in the Archibald Prize and has also been selected in the Mosman Art Prize, Salon Des Refuses, Portia Geach Portrait Prize, Hornsby Art Prize, and the Doug Moran National Portrait Prize.

In 2024 Mirra Whale was the winner of the Redland Art Prize in Queensland.

She has also won the Eutick Memorial Still Life Award (EMSLA) and the Royal Art Society North Sydney Drawing Prize

Clarice Beckett: Paintings from the National Collection presents an intimate, rarely seen group of works by one of the most original artists of early twentieth-century Australia.

Whale and Beckett capture the beauty and sincerity of their surroundings. Their practices reflect the tangible quality of their environments and the practicalities of everyday life, though reflecting entirely different times.
