Collection: 'Embers of Heritage' | Dylan Sarra
29 October - 13 December 2024
Mitchell Fine Art proudly presents the first solo exhibition of Brisbane artist Dylan Sarra.
In his first exhibition, Sarra invites viewers to explore the deep connection between fire and First Nation culture, as experienced by the artist.
Dylan Sarra is a Taribelang/Gooreng Gooreng artist from the Bundaberg region and currently lives in Meanjin, Brisbane.
With a focus on exploring identity and place, Dylan Sarra uses a range of disciplines such as print, digital works and sculpture to make artwork that connects with people and starts conversations about Indigenous history.
Sarra is involved in the research and development of cultural knowledge and practice, that can be shared with the wider community from where these stories take place.
It is Dylan’s aim that all people can not only be intrigued by indigenous culture, but they can also start to appreciate the role we all play in acknowledging First Nations people.
Dylan Sarra is a finalist in this year's Telstra National and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards in Darwin.
