Kategorie: Jake Moss

Jake Moss is a multidisciplinary self-taught artist working across visual art, film, theatre and literature. He was raised in housing commission in Woodridge, QLD. He is also one of 11 siblings, and throughout his childhood his mother managed a brothel, and his father was a devout catholic and ex-police officer.

Throughout his 20s Moss created over 30 independent, self-financed projects from art exhibitions, theatre productions, feature films, books and more.

Drawing inspiration from his childhood in a low socioeconomic and multicultural area and being frequently exposed to a kaleidoscope of characters from hard-drug users to bikies to sex workers to church- goers, his works frequently focus on home, belonging, nostalgia, identity and youth.

His paintings are vibrant and chaotic but never without purpose, often seeking to connect with the viewer personally while drawing direct influence from the street art he was exposed to during his childhood in Woodridge.
