Born circa 1928, Kudditji Kngwarreye grew up immersed in traditional bush life at Utopia in the Central Australian desert. His knowledge of country, ceremony, and law came from lived experience and oral transmission, passed down through generations.

This painting shows Kudditji’s depiction of his country of Utopia. The broad strokes and combination of bold colours and soft fusions accentuate the natural colours of his homelands and the sky over the changing seasons.
