“A lot of the concepts that I’m interested in are things that we all know and are aware of and they’re just banal to us, like swimming pools, but are actually, when you think about it, completely bonkers. We’ve made water turn into something completely abstract. It gone from being this morphous thing into these crisp rectilinear blocks with red and white stripes that we swim up and down rhythmically in. The most rigid formalized space you can imagine, compared to a river.”
