Kay Rubuntja Napurrula is from the Willowra community which is situated about 300km from Alice Springs in Central Australia.
Kay Rubuntja Napurrula paints in a minimalist style and holds great pride in being a self taught artist. Her detailed dot work is striking, and the works often have an optical quality to them.
Her paintings portray the story of 'Ngapa' (Water Dreaming) a soakage site in Kay’s homelands near Willowra. This site would traditionally provide an ongoing water supply, the women go to the soakage site and dig for water.
