Collection: Lucy Loomoo Nungurrayi

Lucy Loomoo was born during the 1930’s near Jupiter Well, approximately 120km west of Kiwirrkurra in the Western Australian desert.

She spent the majority of her childhood growing up along the Canning Stock Route, a 1780km remote and tough track running between Wiluna and Halls Creek in Western Australia. This country was her mother’s and grandfather’s country.

During 1960 as a young woman, Lucy and her family moved to a new mission site, which is now the current location of Balgo community, where she worked as a gardener.

Lucy continued to live in Balgo until her passing in 2020.
