Kategorie: Odessa Mahony-de Vries
Odessa Mahony-de Vries is an emerging artist based on the Sunshine Coast, known for energetic, process-driven abstract artwork.
Working intuitively, Mahony-de Vries builds her compositions through layered gestures—pouring, scraping and reworking paint to create surfaces that shift between control and unpredictability. The resulting works carry visible traces of their making, with earlier marks partially revealed beneath successive layers
Mahony-de Vries completed a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in 2018 and has been working in a studio space in Nambour on the Sunshine Coast since 2023.
In 2025 she was a finalist in the Redland Art Prize and the Stanthorpe Art Prize in 2024.
She has exhibited solo shows at Gympie Regional Gallery, the Umbrella Studio Contemporary Gallery in Townsville, as well as undertaking various artist residencies such as ‘The Old Lockup’ Residency with In ARI at Maroochydore.
