Congratulations to Jorge Mariño Brito on his selection as finalist in the 2025 Churchie Emerging Art Prize in Brisbane.
Jorge Mariño Brito was born in Cuba and lives and works in Brisbane. His artistic practice encompasses painting, papermaking and printmaking.
With a background in psychiatry, he draws from his work within Latin American communities, confronting the complexity of navigating different culture and creating safe places.
Mariño Brito's artwork combines his sensitive depiction of human relationships with a love for painterly materials, bringing intimate moments captured in photographs back to life.
The Churchie Emerging Art Prize is Australia’s longest running award for emerging artists. ‘the churchie’ is dedicated to promoting innovation and excellence across art encompassing all mediums and subjects.
The exhibition is showing from 26 July to 9 August 2025.
