Margaret Loy Pula in 'LORE and LAND' Exhibition

Margaret Loy Pula is featured in the exhibition 'LORE and LAND' on view at the Caloundra Regional Gallery, QLD from 3 July - 16 August 2026.

Hailing from the remote community of Utopia in Central Australia, Margaret Loy Pula continues a legacy that dates back millennia. Painting traditional stories handed down from her father she depicts homelands, bush foods and ceremonial designs using a patternation of intricate dot work.

She is the daughter of well-known artist Kathleen Petyarre (dec) and the mother of Abie Loy Kemarre, also an artist from Utopia. Her aunties are the well-known Petyarre sisters all of whom are established artists.

Featuring works from the Sunshine Coast Art Collection across a range of mediums, 'LORE and LAND' invites audiences to immerse themselves in artworks that carry cultural memory, ancestral connection and living knowledge systems grounded in place, language, practice and responsibility.

The exhibition celebrates renowned First Nations artists including Tony Albert (Girramay, Yidindji, Kuku Yalanji), Michael Cook (Bidjara), Joanne Currie Nalingu (Gungurri), Margaret Loy Pula (Anmatyerre) and the late Michael Nelson Jagamara AM (Warlpiri/Luritja) and Peggy Napangardi Jones (Warlpiri/Warumungu).

The gallery is located at 22 Omrah Avenue, Caloundra.
