This painting depicts Bush Hen Dreaming, a story Abie inherited from her Grandfather. The painting shows the travels of the bush hen (bush turkey) across the country near Utopia as it searches for food.

The painting shows the topography of the country in Central Australia. The circle in the centre of the painting represents the waterhole, with tracks leading toward it. This is where the hen stopped to have a drink. This site is for women only “They hold ceremonies at this sacred site, which is west from Mosquito Bore.”

The women perform ceremonies with songs and dancing to pay respect to the ancestors. They paint their bodies in traditional designs using natural ochres, which they apply with their fingers.
