This is Anne’s depiction of her parents’ traditional country of Watarru in South Australia.

Watarru forms part of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands in the north west of South Australia. The Pitjantjatjara country consists of a long chain of mountain ranges (the Musgraves, Mann and Tomkinsons) stretching east to west on the southern side of the Northern Territory border.

The iconography in each of the corners depicts people on their journey throughout the country. The u-shaped symbols reflecting people the liens next to them are their digging sticks which are used to dig for food and water.
