This painting shows Cowboy’s depiction of the Bush Turkey Dreaming and is an important story for this artist.

The bush turkey’s (arnwengerrp) were once abundant and were the favoured food of the Aboriginal people, however they are now scarcely found.

The painting is created with a series of fine dots representing the wandering travels of the Bush Turkey as it searches for food and water. Each of the small circles in the painting represents a site at which the turkey stopped.

This country is west of the Sandover River near Utopia community in Central Australia.

Passed from one generation to the next, this story was passed to Cowboy by his father, and Cowboy passed it on his grandchildren prior to his passing.
