Dorothy paints her custodial country of β€˜Mina Mina’, a significant ceremonial site at Lake MacKay in the Central Australian desert.

Dorothy uses a unique technique to describe the landscape of her country. Using an aerial interpretation and network of dotted lines to reflect the countries topography while telling the story of the ancestral journeys.

The site of Mina Mina is made up of two enormous water soakages lined with clay. When it rains and the water soaks into the ground, small areas of the earth dry and lift up, with salt around the edges. The lines of dots represent the crustations of salt, stretching infinitely onwards, the salt encrustations around the dry clay pans and the tracks of the ancestral women.
