This painting shows Lola’s depiction of “Ngapa Jukurrpa” and portrays a watercourse, west of Yuendumu that is usually dry.
In this creek bed there are soakages (mulju). The custodians of the dreaming (Jukurrpa) are men of the Jangala/Tjampitjinpa skin groups, and women of the Nangala/Nampitjinpa skins groups.
By the side of the river two old blind women were sitting. A rain ancestor travelled to the site and unleashed a huge storm. As the two women strained their eyes to see the sky, tears formed in the eyes, creating the rain.
