Lucy Lumoo’s paintings are deeply connected to her Country (ancestral land) and cultural knowledge.
Lucy has depicted her country south of Balgo close to Punmu in the Great Sandy Desert of Western Australia. Her paintings represent landscapes, waterholes, and desert geography.
This country is called Nyakungtjuungku and is part of the artists dreaming. It is rich with bush tucker (native bush food). The circle is a ‘Tjurrnu’, or soakwater, known as ‘Inta’, or 'living water' as it always holds fresh water.
The dotting surrounding the circle represents bush foods including kantilli or pura (bush tomato).
