This painting is Shorty’s depiction of the site ‘Puyurru’, near Yuendumu in Central Australia.

The painting depicts the rainmaker story and how two men unleashed a giant storm across the area. The storm travelled across the country, with the lightning striking the land. The curved and straight lines represent the Ngawarra (flood waters) running through the landscape.

The small circles represent mulju (water soakages) and the short bars mangkurdu (cumulus and stratocumulus clouds). This story belongs to the Jungala men and Nungala women.
