Mitjili Napurrula is a Pintupi woman from the Haasts Bluff region in Central Australia. This painting is her depiction of the traditional ancestral story ‘Watiya Juta’ from her father’s country.

The painting shows the iconography of the Acacia desert oakwood trees and sandhills. The  trees provide the wood used for the making of spears (kulata) that are used in hunting and for defence.

Mitjili was taught her father's Dreaming by her mother, who would draw the patterns of the Uwalki trees directly into the desert sand.
