Gilang Fradika (b1988) is an Indonesian contemporary artist known for richly layered paintings that combine elements of nature, anatomy, folklore, popular culture, and surreal imagery.
He lives and works in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, graduating from the Yogyakarta State University in 2012. His training in printmaking and graphic arts continues to influence his detailed, layered approach to image-making.
Gilang works mostly with two-dimensional surfaces, particularly in painting as he blends elements of nature, human and animal forms, folklore, and popular culture, creating layered, surreal, and often richly figurative compositions.
His paintings combine organic visual forms (like plant structures and anatomy) with imagined or symbolic scenes, blurring the boundary between realism and metaphor to create a dreamlike space, where multiple timelines, perspectives, and emotional states coexist.
His work frequently reflects on personal memory, inner emotional worlds, cultural narratives, and the interplay between structure and disorder.
Gilang Fradika has exhibited internationally and has featured in art fairs and museum showcases.
