This work speaks of human desire, still utilizing the tradition of still life but not out of nostalgia for art history. Instead, I use it as a framework of thought; desire is not visualized through the human figure, but rather through the arrangement of bodies, anatomical fragments, and objects.

In European art history, still life was often used to display luxury: imported fruits, hunted game, exotic objects, precious metals, and porcelain. All of these objects served as markers of social status. Thus, the title Avarice (greed) leads me to view the arrangement of objects in this painting as a tower of desire.

Each layer supports the layer above it, as if no object stands alone; what is being constructed is a hierarchy.
