This work becomes a conversation between past and present, culture and my own craft, family and myself. 

The boomerangs are the chosen carriers for this story because they represent return. It’s my return to home. I look to language, to memory, and in this case, return to the laughter that I held close as a child.

The quips scrawled in a childlike script echo my younger self. I thought about how I would write, and how I was spoken to with warmth and humour by uncles and aunties. They gave me laughter as connection. This still carries me today as the humour that once made me feel good still lives as both a reminder and invitation.

The airbrushed colour on the bright boomerangs is not just decorative. It’s a revival or return of my trade woven back in. It speaks to the skills I learnt as a spray painter. This skill now becomes another link in my methodology. It becomes a fusion of my hands, memory, and cultural form.

This work is a reflection of practice, methodology, and heritage.

It is saying, here is a cultural object, reimagined through the lens of humour and love, always coming back around.
