This spear references the glass artifacts made by First Nations people during the colonial period, using flaked glass for use as a form of protection.

When European colonizers, pastoralists, and telegraph lines arrived in the 19th and 20th centuries, they brought manufactured glass. The molecular structure of glass was nearly identical to high-quality silica stones like obsidian or quartz.

Using ancient stone-knapping techniques, the craftsmen fashioned glass into double-edged, leaf-shaped spearheads that were sharper than surgical steel.
