The Ngalyipi (Snake Vine) is a green creeper vine that grows around trees and shrubs. The plant has medicinal uses - the vines are used as tourniquets, and its leaves and vines are used as bandages for wounds.
As a traditional bush medicine the leaves are chewed to treat severe colds and the stems can cure headaches.
The vine is also used in initiation ceremonies for young men and has great ceremonial significance.
