The country referred to in this painting is the Purtulu (Mt Theo) area, situated north west of Yuendumu and is significant to the Napangardi and Napanangka women who are the custodians of the Dreaming.

The Ngalyipi (Snake Vine) grows around gum trees and is collected by the Napangardi and Napanangka women to make straps to cure headaches. The leaves from the vine are used as a bandage for cuts and wounds. The vine is also used in initiation ceremonies for young Japanangka and Japangardi men and has great ceremonial significance.
